A host is a non-profit organization, which aims to develop leadership skills in young people through environmental protection activities. Their main activities are making better conditions in forests in Tochigi prefecture with local people and other non-profit organizations. Throughout this project, you are going to look and learn the environmental problems, Tochigi prefecture has been facing and help them to solve it. In addition, during this project, you are going to join their study programs, in which you are going to learn how to lead groups of people as well as share your opinions and ideas about environmental problems with locals.
Role of the Volunteer:
1. Prepare a good condition in a forest where children can play
2. Improve the condition of bamboo forest
3. Attend meetings with local people
4. Help to organize the family camp
5. Engage in the training and study activities
Requirement:
The specific background is not needed. But you must have an interest in environmental activities as well as enjoy physical work and like to work with others. Basic knowledge of Japanese Language is required.
Language Opportunity:
You will work with locals. A lot of chances to use Japanese every day.
Period:
Between May 10 and July 16 / August 29 and November
Duration:
One month to a whole project period
Working Hours:
7 hours per day and 1-2 days off
* 3-4 days per week for environmental protection activities and 1 day per week for study sessions and organizing the event.
What's included:
Accommodation, three meals per day (not provided on free-days), necessary work-related transportation
