For a team working with Japan

How to better understand communication styles, the significance of hierarchy and the decision-making process.

Before a business trip or hosting visitors

How to prepare for formal and informal meetings: from greetings to sharing a meal.

Sample programme

Understand the context. Make informed choices.

We tailor the scope and emphasis of each topic to your planned business interactions and your participants' experience.

Communication and hierarchy

Communication conventions, keigo, senpai–kōhai relationships and honne–tatemae. The significance of silence, gestures and personal space in business conversations.

Meetings and etiquette

Punctuality, greetings, bowing and business cards (meishi). Dress, gifts and table manners.

Decisions and relationship-building

Consensus-building and differences from foreign business practice. The structure of formal and informal meetings and the role of socialising.

Difficult situations and common mistakes

Sensitive topics, behaviours to avoid and communication misunderstandings. Practical examples and questions from participants.

Can the training be delivered in English?

Yes. We deliver training in Polish or English. The language of delivery and the language of any additional materials are agreed separately, including for international teams.

Do participants need to speak Japanese?

No. This is training in business culture and collaboration, not a language course. Japanese concepts are explained in the language of the training.

Can the programme be tailored to our company?

Yes. Before the session, we establish whether you are preparing for a trade fair, a visit, initial discussions or ongoing collaboration. We select topics and examples accordingly.

What do participants receive after the training?

Participants receive certificates. For options with materials, we also prepare an original PDF handbook and a concise checklist. The exact scope and language of the materials are specified in the proposal.
